Reading stories is an invaluable tool in children’s education. Taking this into account, this year we have expanded our library collection with new Graded Readers (books written for learners at different stages of learning the language), accompanied by DVD-ROM/audio-CD.
Why should you encourage your child to read in English/French?
- Story reading enhances their creative side and develops their imagination
- It increases their exposure to the language and therefore makes it easier for them to learn it
- It helps them express themselves in a better way
- It expands their vocabulary, which makes them even better readers
- Various studies suggest that more reading not only makes for better reading, but also for better listening, writing and speaking!
- Graded Readers are designed to give students a successful experience of reading, so they can help children feel more confident about their language abilities
Reading books can result in dramatic improvement of learners’ language skills, so it should have a central place in their language learning programme instead of being considered an extra resource for those who are willing to devote some extra time.
